Choosing Paint Colours - our Verde colours
Nearly every week since we opened someone has asked about the colours we use instore, especially our lovely blue on our ceiling. I don't know why I didn't think about putting it in a blog post before so it's easy for you to find, but finally here it is!
If you've visited our store in West Hobart, you will have noticed that we chose to use some great dark moody colour for our ceiling and a few of our walls. Now, I love a good white paint, but because the space was fairly small and we had the most beautiful original tin ceilings, I felt we needed to do something special.
We chose a dark ceiling to emphasis the pattern of the tin. A lot of people told me I was a little crazy and it just wasn't the right thing to do, but thankfully it turned out great, and has stood the test of time, in both style and paint quality!
Our blue was from the Murabond paint range and called Shibori. It's a deep dark navy with great depth and a semi matte finish. I love the Murobond ranges - they are one of my favourite paints to work with. I will say though that painting a ceiling is not great for your shoulders and back - it was hard work!
The other two colours we chose to complement this deep blue and add brightness and light were Dulux Whisper White and Dulux Narrow Neck. We get a lot of light into the front of the store due to our whole wall of windows, but this is also our only window space - and therefore our only space with natural light! So, we needed to choose our white and grey accent carefully. Plus, as I'm sure you know, choosing whites is not that easy and needs to be done carefully - there are just so many white options! We opted for very neutral tones that weren't too bright to make sure they didn't overly contrast our lovely deep navy. We wanted to accent the moodiness that we'd managed to create, so picking neutrals with matching undertones was important.
We have been totally happy with our choice of colours and they have served us well for the last 8 years we have been in our store in West Hobart. Hope you love them too. x
