Why we love linen bedding

Linen has always been our first choice for the bedding we use at home, so it was a no-brainer to make it our first choice of bedding that we stock in store. There's a long list of reasons why we love it, but to boil it down, the reason we love linen so much is because it is a gorgeously high-quality natural material that lasts and lasts and lasts - and it looks fabulous!

What makes linen so great?

Linen is one of the strongest and most durable natural materials, stronger and softer even than cotton, which makes it perfect for long-lasting and extremely comfortable sheets. Linen actually gets softer and improves with wear and washing, so the more you use it, the better it gets!

Linen is well-known for keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter.

This excellent characteristic exists because the fibres of linen are hollow, which make for the perfect insulator. It's also the reason that sleeping in linen feels far superior compared to any other material - the fibres wick moisture away from your body, leaving you feeling cool, clean and comfortable year round.

Not only is it extremely comfortable to sleep in, linen is also good for you. Unlike a lot of other fibres, linen is very rarely sprayed or treated with pesticides during the growing and weaving processes, making the resulting fabric safe to sleep in and ideal for anyone who suffers from allergies or skin conditions. Plus, linen is naturally anti-microbial, meaning it naturally repels harmful bacteria and microorganisms.

The reality is that we spend a lot of our lives in bed (around one third!), so it's well worth making your bed as comfortable as it can be. That's why we love sleeping in linen, and our favourite is the linen bedding from Australian brand Bedouin Societie.

We chose their bedding many years ago when we first opened (2013)  & because it's made of 100% high quality, French linen and comes in a gorgeous range of more than 20 colours. Bedouin is a little on the pricier side for linen sheets, but having tested out a few different ranges over the years we can say that it's well worth spending the extra dollars on it. There's just no substitute for their top quality ranges. You can see our full range here, or have  look below for some styling ideas.

If you're just staring out and unsure whether linen is for you, we advise just starting with a pair of pillowcases.  It is a more economical way to test it out and see if you love it just as much as we do.  We guarantee once you've tried sleeping with linen, you will want every part of your bedding to be linen.

Do you love linen bedding as much as we do? Have you been a convert for many years, or are you yet to try it out? We'd love to hear from you - send us an email or DM and let us know!
